Singapore-style Street Ice Cream

About a couple of years ago, I had the chance to stay tin Singapore for short of a week due to a company-sponsored conference. We stayed in Mandarin Hotel along Orchard Road and the first food I tried was their street Ice cream!!!!

Back home, street ice creams are scoops of various flavors served in sugar cones. So I was stoked to find out street Ice Cream in Singapore were blocks served in wafer, cones or sandwich!!!! All for about a singapore dollar or so :) I tried the sandwich and wafer and both were yummy!!! But, how can you go wrong with Ice Cream? here's a short video of how they prepare street ice cream Singapore-style :) Enjoy!!!

They Are Making A Come-back!!!

Whammos, jelly jooze, watchamacalliit, funwich, Tivoli ice cream, Eskimo pie, bubble cone pink with gumball at the bottom… I think i'd pass for a 90s kid. :) They said brands come and go, but I think brands, they fade because their most loyal customer base just grew up. Nakaka blues naman... Para sa aming mga bata noon, simple lang ang buhay. Pag gising, may hilamos o wala, gagayak ka na sa panaderya. Bibili ka ng pandesal at mantekilya, kahit pupungas pungas pa. Bawal ang bumangon ng tirik na ang araw, at ang huling gigising ang siyang magliligpit ng banig, kumot at mga unan. Dahil sabado, pwede ka makinig ng radyo o manood ng TV. Pwede ka rin magpatugtog ng plaka. Isa si Olivia Newton John sa nagpaantig ng puso ko noon. Nalungkot ako una kong marinig yung I Honestly Love You. Isa yun sa maraming kanta na nirecord ko sa tape. Kasi noon, kung wala kang pambili ng songhits, ite-tape mo yung mga kanta, at pau-lit-ulit mong pakikinggan hanggang sa makabisa mo. Markado yung boses ni Olivia kaya naman nung lumabas yun Hopelessly Devoted at iba pang kanta sa Grease, laking pasalamat ko at nagka plaka kami nun pati nung Xanadu. Magnolia Of My Childhood
